Christmas without my Gomphrenas

Came home to this tragic scene. I'm saving the seeds so I get to plant these again. Some things may seem worthless but can be valuable to others.

While I was working in the grassroots community, I encountered Gomphrenas again, after many years of not seeing it. They bring great memories of my childhood specially the times where I play by myself in our area's Reading Centre. The place was full of these wonderful little blooms.

I decided to propagate these sometime 2015. Mid year it was uncontrollably growing in front of our home, I wouldnt blame the responsible person entirely for cutting it all as it looked like its been neglected but that was the look I was going for. LOL. I wanted the place to be full of tiny little lavender buttons. Also, the good thing about this plant is how low maintenance it is. I rarely check its leaves for insects and arachnids (considering I'm arachnophobic, I also wouldnt dare to). The plant had thrived and gave us wonderful colors while it lasted.

While its sad to come home without these lovely flowers, I'm still glad I get to spend the holidays with family this year. Im hoping tough I'll get to see my gomphrenas bloom again the next time I come home so I'm gonna start planting now. Bye~
